Company Operating Name: Toronto Botanical Garden Business Address: 777 Lawrence Ave E, Toronto, ON M3C 1P2 Title of the Position: Executive Director Number of Positions Available: 1 Reporting to the Board of Directors, this key leadership role provides vision, guidance, creative problem-solving, and practical support to TBG to ensure effective change and outstanding execution across all areas of the organization. These areas include horticulture, conservation, education, planning and reporting, financial management, marketing and communications, events, retail, rentals, development, operational and risk management, and the expansion project and capital campaign. The Executive Director plays a pivotal role in promoting a culture of inclusivity and collaboration, as well as actively facilitating a best-practices approach to the sharing of operational knowledge across the organization and beyond. This role requires oversight of an annual operating budget of $2.5-3 Million, and an expansion capital projects budget of $50 Million over three phases. Job Duties: ● Reporting to the Board of Directors, this key leadership role provides vision, guidance, creative problem-solving, and practical support to TBG to ensure effective change and outstanding execution across all areas of the organization. These areas include horticulture, conservation, education, planning and reporting, financial management, marketing and communications, events, retail, rentals, development, operational and risk management, and the expansion project and capital campaign ● The Executive Director plays a pivotal role in promoting a culture of inclusivity and collaboration, as well as actively facilitating a best-practices approach to the sharing of operational knowledge across the organization and beyond ● TBG is a community-based organization with over 2000 members, hundreds of active volunteers, and 32 Full Time Equivalent (FTE) staff. This role requires oversight of an annual operating budget of $2.5-3 Million, and an expansion capital projects budget of $50 Million over three phases KEY RELATIONSHIPS ● Accountable to the Board and works collaboratively with the Board and Board committees ● Internal Departments: o Finance/Administration/IT o Retail o Development o Education o Horticulture o Marketing & Communications o Maintenance o Rentals o Expansion Project ● Interacts with TBG Members and volunteers across the organization ● Liaises with Campaign Consultants Partner Relationships ● Donors and funders ● City of Toronto and other government agencies ● Vendors and suppliers ● Local, provincial, and national garden and not-for-profit networks/associations ● Local community groups and stakeholders LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES ● Visionary - creates tomorrow today.
