POSITION TITLE: Location Manager - CarberryREPORTS TO: President and Area Manager POSITION SUMMARY:The Location Manager is responsible for providing overall direction, management, and supervision to all aspects of the location. A high level of customer service, leadership, and industry expertise is required to encourage continued growth in the Redfern Farm Services client base and company profitability. ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE:The Location Manager reports directly to the President and Senior Manager. This individual works closely with head office personnel.The following positions report directly to the Location Manager:Sales Agronomist(s)Operational Coordinator and all operations staff (full-time and seasonal)Office Administration staff SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES:OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT:In conjunction with President and Controller, establish and monitor branch-operating budget and adjust expenditures as required.Review statement of earnings and analyze sales performance and expenses.Maintain all company facilities and equipment in safe and good working condition.Manage inventories of all products ongoing and submit balanced timely reports in accordance with directives from Head Office personnel.Continual communication with President, Management Team, Agronomists, operational and administrative staff. SALES:Implement effective sales and marketing programs to promote sale of products and services utilizing high level of customer interaction.Be an active member of the locations sales team and develop selling relationships with growersEstablish sales budget by customer, by product; update as required.Minimize customer turnover and achieve new customer growth targets.Recommend and develop marketing plans and advertising strategies under the direction of the President.Communicate with customers regarding crop intentions, land base changes, etc., in order to provide professional recommendations as required, and secure the business.Develop and continually update customer database. (current and desired customers)Track and document competitors’ pricing and sales activities.LEADERSHIP/MANAGEMENT:Manage, motivate, and coach directly reporting employees.Delegate and monitor employee workload, oversee employee activities and performance.Ensure employee successes are being highlighted and rewarded.Create a positive workplace culture and focus on retaining employees long term.Ensure all company policies, procedures, and programs are adhered to.Provide recognition, recommend promotions, and provide ongoing constructive feedback.Conduct performance appraisals on all branch staff once a yearProvide orientation for new employees and training as required under the direction of the upper-level management.Provide direction to and coordinate activities of Agronomist(s) and additional sales staff. ADMINISTRATIVE:Monitor outstanding accounts and ensure balances meet approved credit compliance.Complete credit and security documents as required.Ensure location payables are current and accurate.Ensure accurate and updated records are kept providing timely invoicing, product and service booking, and the reconciliation of inventory. POSITION REQUIREMENTS:EDUCATION:Diploma or degree in Agribusiness, Management, or a field related to Agronomy/Agriculture, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.Must have Pesticide Dispenser Certificate (or the ability to attain).Customer Application Course/Certificate is an asset. SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Background in agriculture and strong agronomic knowledge with technical product knowledge of crop inputs is essential.Minimum 1-2 years’ experience working in an operational leadership position, ideally in the (retail) Agriculture services industry.Must have experience with and understanding of financials/budgets and interpreting and actioning results.Must have customer service experience with the ability to recognize and respond to customer needs.Previous experience in sales and the ability to network and maintain client relationships.Knowledge and understanding of agriculture issues specific to retail industry is required.Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship building skills are essential.Must be a mature, professional, independent worker with excellent problem-solving skills.Must be technology savvy and have strong computer skills with an interest in modern agriculture (Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, and industry programs).Ability to work outside of normal work hours when required to meet business/customer needs.Must have a valid driver’s license Interested in joining our Team?
