About the Opportunity The Associate Physician is a licensed physician employed by the Nova Scotia Health Authority to provide medical care under the supervision of a fully licensed physician. This position is assigned to the Department of Mental Health and Addictions. Participation in the call schedule is required. Clinical Responsibilities Under the supervision of an attending member of the Department of Mental Health and Addictions: - Liaises with nurses, housestaff, attending staff and other members of the health care team in the development of the overall patient care program. - Communicates with patients, families, referring and family physicians concerning patient management plans. - Manages the day:to:day care of patients, including writing medical orders on charts and responding to emergencies, in consultation with attending staff. - Arranges consultations with other departments for care and investigation. - Follows through on investigations and arranges follow:up outpatient visits. - Attends educational sessions and rounds as time permits. - Participates in on:call responsibilities of the service. - These responsibilities are meant to be indicative of the job responsibilities and duties and are not inclusive.
