At Richardson, we are committed to enhancing our facilities and services and investing in our people and our communities.  Richardson operates port terminals from coast to coast across Canada and exports Canadian-grown grains and oilseeds to end-use markets in over 50 countries around the globe. We currently have an opportunity for an Director, Operations at our Richardson Port Terminal located in North Vancouver, BC.  This is an opportunity to work at one of the most successful grain handling facilities in the world, which exports canola and cereal grains to countries along the Pacific Rim.  Responsibilities:Develop operational plan and coordinate schedules ensuring maximum utilization of the terminal assetEstablish daily receiving, cleaning and shipping priorities with Senior Director, Terminal Operations, logistics’ team and operations supervisorsAnalyze current stock position with logistics team to formulate plans on space utilizationEnsure the logistics team reconciles physical inventory to paper stocks each dayEffectively communicate strategy to Supervisors delegating responsibility for operational functionsProvide support in the EH&S program and stewardship of the Collective AgreementExecutes on initiatives to develop, maintain and improve all areas of the EH&S program consistent to Corporate objectivesProvide leadership and support in all operations safety related issues including incident investigation, resolution and participation in monthly JHSC meetingsLiaise with the Maintenance Department, scheduling repair and capital projects with minimal operational interferenceReview daily, with the Maintenance Superintendent and logistics team, the mechanical and electrical repairs and projects required and the opportunities for scheduling sameRecommend in cooperation with the Maintenance Superintendent, new installations, site improvements and proposed changes to increase productivity and efficiencies while reducing operating costsSupports the practices of the Collective Agreement ensuring consistency of application of articles and interpretation of languageAs necessary, support the grievance, arbitration and negotiations processes ensuring all processes take place within corporate guidelines and expectationsManage human resources, including operations workforce planning, hiring, scheduling, labour relations, performance management and facilitation of employee training and developmentRecognize employees based on merit and individual contributions while supporting a diverse and inclusive work environmentProvide effective communication and development of strategies to ensure that the supervisory group and logistics team are engaged, up to date and connected on the rotation to support ongoing issues that ariseConsistent messaging to the supervisory group; seek input in employee issues, operational issues Qualifications:Experience & Education/TrainingCertificate/Diploma in Agriculture, Business or related discipline is recommended5 years Terminal Supervisory ExperienceManagement experience an asset; particularly in a unionized environmentKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesSound understanding of the Agriculture industryDemonstrated ability to work under pressure and meet multiple deadlinesStrong interpersonal skills and demonstrated leadership abilityTravel may be requiredBudget planning, working knowledge of collective agreement and Canada Labor Code Richardson International provides an excellent compensation package consisting of competitive salary, pension, a flexible benefits plan and training and career development opportunities. Interested candidates should click the Apply to this Position icon to apply online by May 2, 2024. Richardson International values diversity in the workplace.
