Interviewer: Good afternoon! Can you please introduce yourself and tell us why you want to become a Personal Trainer?

1. Scenario: A client wants to lose 10 pounds in the next 2 months. What is your plan for achieving this goal and what are some realistic expectations you would set for the client's progress?
Candidate Answer: First, I would assess the client's current diet and exercise habits to see where changes can be made. Then, I would create a personalized workout and nutrition plan for them to follow. Realistic expectations would be to aim for a consistent and gradual weight loss of 1-2 pounds per week through a combination of cardio and strength training, while also ensuring that the client is in a caloric deficit.
2. Scenario: A client comes to you with a knee injury that prevents them from doing any lower body exercises. Can you give an example of a workout plan you would create for them that wouldn't aggravate their injury?
Candidate Answer: Of course. I would focus on upper body exercises that don't require the use of the legs, such as seated dumbbell curls, seated shoulder press, and chest flies. We could also incorporate some core strengthening exercises, such as planks and Russian twists, which don't put pressure on the knee joint.

4. Scenario: A new client tells you they have a busy schedule and can only commit to working out twice a week. How would you create a workout plan that maximizes the benefits of these limited sessions?
Candidate Answer: I would make sure to create a full-body workout that targets multiple muscle groups in each session. We would focus on compound exercises that work multiple muscles at the same time, such as squats, deadlifts, and bench press. We would also need to make sure these sessions are challenging enough to elicit progress and that the client is consistent with their nutrition outside of the gym.
5. Scenario: One of your clients tells you they'd like to run a 5k in the next 3 months, but they've never run before. How would you create a running plan that gradually builds up their endurance and avoids injury?
Candidate Answer: I would start by assessing their current fitness level and designing a training plan that gradually increases their running time and distance each week. We would start with a run/walk approach, gradually increasing the running time while decreasing the walking time. We would also need to focus on proper form and technique to avoid injury and make sure the client is properly fueling and hydrating before and after their runs.
