Painter and Maintenance Operative Location: Brighton Salary: A GBP 29,254 per annum Brighton College is seeking to appoint a Painter and Maintenance Operative Reporting to: Deputy Head of Facilities Services (Maintenance) Main purpose of the role: The purpose of this post is to ensure the smooth and efficient provision of painting services to all schools and properties within Brighton College. General Duties and Responsibilities: * Applying paint, stain, varnish and other finishes to a high standard with minimal supervision. * Using brushes, rollers or spraying equipment. * Working with the team to calculate the materials needed for a project. * Removing old paint or wallpaper by sanding or scraping, or by using heat guns, liquid paint removers or steam strippers. * Cleaning up supplies and replacing fixtures when project is complete. * Any other reasonable management request. Person Specification: The successful candidate will have experience in the following areas: * Painting and Decorating Level 2 NVQ. * 3+ years of experience painting and decorating. * The ability to deliver on deadlines. * Good communication skills. * Basic computer skills required for checking and updating work orders, ordering supplies and online training. * To be flexible and have a positive attitude to work within a team framework. * The ability to interact with all types of people with courtesy and tact. * The ability to work competently alone or as part of the team. * Required to be on the out of hours maintenance rota (on completion of probation). Desirable * Plastering experience would be beneficial but not essential. * General maintenance experience preferred. * Ability to erect working platforms and towers. Hours of Work: This role will work 40 hours per week, from 8.00am to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday inclusive with a 60:minute unpaid lunch break each day Remuneration: The salary for this role is A GBP 29,254 per annum. On completion of probation you will be expected to go onto the on:call rota, for which you will be paid.
