Field Service Engineer : Rail Simulators and IT Systems Location: Canterbury : remote and field based Salary: Up to A GBP 35,000 p.a. plus bonus scheme Hours: Monday to Friday, 09:00:17:00 (flexibility required for site travel and occasional overnight stays) Benefits: * Annual bonus scheme (5 of salary, subject to performance targets) * 25 days holiday plus all UK public holidays * Company laptop, tools and equipment provided * Mileage reimbursement for personal vehicle use * Ongoing training and professional development opportunities Role Overview * Exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to support the delivery and upkeep of high:performance train driving simulators * Home:based position involving travel to sites across the South of England to client sites with occasional international visits (Ireland and France) * Key focus on fault:finding, maintenance, and repair of rail simulator systems in both planned and reactive settings * Ideal for candidates with strong IT and electronics engineering experience within the rail, defence, or simulator industries Key Responsibilities * Diagnose faults and carry out repair work on advanced train simulators using schematics, wiring diagrams and engineering input * Undertake regular planned maintenance and unscheduled interventions to ensure simulator uptime * Support and maintain Windows:based systems, including hardware upgrades and operating system troubleshooting * Install and replace hardware components including motherboards, GPUs, memory and SSDs * Troubleshoot audio, video, power and network cabling issues within simulator environments * Provide remote and on:site IT support to internal users as part of a wider engineering and tech support team * Maintain accurate documentation and status reports for each simulator site * Attend international simulator engineering conferences and engage in continuous learning Essential Skills and Experience * Strong background in IT support, electronics fault:finding, and complex system troubleshooting * In:depth understanding of Windows operating systems, hardware installation and maintenance * Hands:on experience in computer networking, including IP addressing, static/dynamic setups, and subnet configurations * Ability to interpret and act on detailed wiring and schematic diagrams * Skilled in practical repair work, with confidence in DIY:style tasks for mounting and assembling simulator equipment * Excellent time management and ability to work independently while meeting deadlines * Clear communicator with strong documentation skills and a proactive approach Additional Requirements * Comfortable working alone on client sites, with a high standard of personal safety and professionalism * Willing to travel extensively across the South of England via train; occasional driving required with mileage reimbursed * Must be eligible for CTC security clearance and compliant with random drugs and alcohol testing policies * Easy access to a train station is advantageous for travel efficiency * Full UK driving licence Westin Par values diversity and promotes equality.
