We are seeking a dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SENTA) to join our specialist resource unit within a primary school in Tameside. This is an incredibly challenging yet deeply rewarding role where you can make a profound difference in the lives of students. About the school and role Our primary school is committed to providing inclusive education and ensuring that every child receives the support they need to thrive. Our specialist resource unit caters to students with a range of special educational needs, providing tailored interventions and support to help them achieve their full potential. As a SENTA within our specialist resource unit, you will work closely with the class teacher and other professionals to provide individualized support to students with special educational needs. This role requires patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach to help students overcome barriers to learning and develop essential skills. You will play a crucial role in creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and empowered. Key Responsibilities: Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with special educational needs, including those with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and other learning difficulties Implement and adapt individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies to meet the needs of students Assist with personal care and physical support as required, ensuring the health and safety of students at all times Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, promoting a collaborative approach to support and inclusion Collaborate with the class teacher and other professionals to assess student progress and identify areas for development Maintain accurate records of student progress and interventions, providing regular feedback to the class teacher and SENCO Requirements: Previous experience working with children with special educational needs, preferably within a primary school setting Understanding of different special educational needs and relevant support strategies Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues Resilience, patience, and empathy, with a commitment to supporting the holistic development of students Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs support (e.g., CACHE Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools) What we offer As an SENTA you will benefit from: Excellent daily rates paid using the PAYE system.
