The school is seeking a Teaching Assistant with experience in SEMH support to work 1:1 with a Year 5 pupil who needs help with behavioural engagement and social interactions. About the Teaching Assistant Role: * This Teaching Assistant position involves supporting a Year 5 pupil with SEMH needs who struggles with following adult instructions and occasionally has verbal altercations with peers. * You will help the pupil stay engaged with classwork, develop independence, and maintain motivation throughout the school day. * The role includes running small group support sessions at social times to encourage positive peer relationships in a supervised setting. * You will use Outdoor learning and activities, sports and physical activities to motivate the pupil and provide structured play during break times. * Full:time role, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with a 30:minute lunch break. The Ideal Teaching Assistant Will: * Have experience working with children with SEMH needs, preferably in a school or alternative education setting. * Be patient, professional, and resilient, with a calm and consistent approach to managing behaviour. * Be able to build rapport quickly and establish a positive, trusting relationship with the pupil. * Have a background or interest in sports, coaching, or mentoring, as this will be beneficial for engaging the pupil. * Have experience supporting behaviour management strategies and encouraging positive interactions between peers. * Hold a relevant Level 2 or 3 qualification (desirable but not essential). * Be able to provide two professional references covering the last three years. Teaching Assistant Requirements: * You will go through our quick and simple vetting process, with 24/7 consultant support. * A clear Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one). * Two professional references from work or education within the last three years. * Previous experience working with SEMH pupils in a school, alternative provision, or youth support role.
