Senior Financial Accountant; and Financial Framework Advisor.   EL1, Permanent roles Location - Sydney, Melbourne or Canberra (other locations to be considered) Salary:  $123,444 to $144,386 plus 15.4% superannuation (depending on experience) Applications close at 11:59pm AEDT, 13 May 2025   The Enterprise Services Group consists of four teams including Finance, Procurement, Property and Contracts, Performance Reporting and Planning and the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Program. The Group provides a range of support, advice and analysis services across ASIC.   El1- Finance Business Partner The Finance Business Partnering team at ASIC provides financial information and advice to executives and business managers, enhancing decision-making, resource allocation, and budgetary control. They offer a range of financial support and analysis services to both internal and external stakeholders. In this role you will build strong relationships with senior executives and line managers, providing strategic financial analysis, advice, and reporting. Present insights at management meetings to ensure leaders understand their financial performance, risks, and opportunities. Support business teams in developing plans, cases, and funding bids. You will continuously improve processes to achieve business outcomes. Liaise with Government agencies and draft financial reports for board-level management. Facilitate accurate and timely financial reporting and advice. Handle month-end and year-end closing activities, including accruals, journals, and reconciliations. Candidates should have experience in management accounting, budgeting, or forecasting in the public or private sector, delivering timely and accurate financial advice to senior executives. A qualification in Business, Commerce, or Finance, along with CPA or CA certification, is desirable, in addition to proficiency in reporting and analysis using large ERP systems like TechnologyOne. Additionally, candidates must be skilled in simplifying complex financial information for business users and presenting it to various audiences, including senior and board-level executives. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to provide specialist advice on accounting concepts, policies, and procedures are crucial.   EL1 – Senior Financial Accountant The Senior Financial Accountant ensures ASIC's external and statutory reporting meets accounting standards, maintaining the integrity of ASIC's accounts. This role provides expert analysis and advice, manages non-financial assets, and collaborates closely with Finance Business Partners, the Department of Finance, and the Treasury Additionally, this role reviews and supervises month-end journals, balance sheet reconciliations, and manages financial information in the Department of Finance's Central Budget Management System (CBMS), including drawdowns and journals. This role also involves reviewing asset register transactions, contributing to policy development, and ensuring continuous process improvement. You will build relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including ASIC teams, government agencies, and professional bodies, while providing coaching and guidance to team members for accurate and timely financial reporting and advice. Candidates should have qualifications in Business, Commerce, or Finance, with CPA or CA certification. They must have experience in preparing statutory reports for Australian Government agencies, applying the PGPA Act, and providing financial advice to senior executives. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to simplify complex financial information for various audiences are essential. Additionally, candidates should have stakeholder management experience, including building productive relationships and networks. They must be adept at presenting complex information to senior executives and board members, managing small teams, and handling complex projects. Experience in coaching, workflow monitoring, and strategic direction setting is also desirable.   El1- Financial Framework Advisor The Financial Framework unit within the Finance team ensures adherence to Commonwealth financial frameworks and maintains financial policies to meet legislative requirements, supporting ASIC's objectives. The Financial Framework Advisor ensures high-quality, accurate compliance reports and analysis of non-compliance trends. This role involves monitoring obligations to ensure adherence to the PGPA Act and the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework. Candidates should have a relevant tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce, with CPA or CA certification (or working towards it). A good understanding of the PGPA Act (or equivalent State legislation) and the ability to communicate requirements to teams across ASIC is essential. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and knowledge of compliance processes are crucial. Additionally, candidates must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and liaise with various internal and external stakeholders.
