The Accountant of Finance Control and Analysis is responsible for performing a key control function for ensuring accurate reconciliation of all balance sheet and P and L accounts and compliance with the Bank's accounting policies and IFRS guidelines. The Accountant understands the source, process and rationale for all entries booked to the general ledger and ensures financial information is accurately reflected in our general ledger and reconciled with relevant sources. The Accountant is able to work with minimal supervision, understands and resolves daily reconciliation issues, has understanding of IFRS standards. The incumbent liaisons with other departments or service providers where necessary to investigate and resolve differences. They will report directly to the Manager of Reconciliation. In this role, you will: typedisc: : Analyze assigned general ledger accounts. : Explain variances for assigned general ledger accounts. : Reconcile general ledger accounts related to the Bank's product offerings (i.e. mortgages, securities, mutual funds, overdraft account, deposits and credit cards) and ensure timely identification and resolution of all reconciling items. : Reconcile general ledger accounts related to the Bank's operational activities (i.e. payroll, fixed assets, stock:based compensation, leases, foreign currency accounting etc.) and ensure timely identification and resolution of all reconciling items. : Investigate, follow:up and resolve reconciliation issues spanning multiple channels and a multitude of vendors and systems. : Co:ordinate activities with external vendors and staff in other departments to investigate and resolve issues. : Ensure compliance with SOX requirements with respect to the assigned general ledger accounts. : Assist with answering external audit queries as well as preparing material requested by the auditors. : Identify and initiate process improvements to reduce manual effort and maintain accuracy and controls. : Update reconciliation procedures. : Other duties as assigned.
