Farming Operations Representative – Brantford/Woodstock area The Chicken Farmers of Ontario’s (CFO) Farming Operations Representative (FOR) role is to be a trusted advisor to stakeholders while effectively delivering and ensuring compliance with Chicken Farmers of Canada (CFC) and CFO’s on-farm regulatory programs and other initiatives. FORs support chicken production and marketing including relationship building with farmers, processing plants, industry stakeholders and other CFO departments. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESAuditing On Farm ProgramsAudit farms according to mandatory standards in the On-Farm Food Safety and Animal Care ProgramsPlan and execute audits, workflows, corrective actions, penalties, and quality assurance within prescribed timelinesTrain new farmers on the On-Farm Food Safety and Animal Care ProgramsEstablish and maintain transparent and collaborative relationships with farmersEnsure best practices are shared across the industryWeekly report on progress to complete all program audits/inspections required over a calendar year InspectionsInspect new farms/barns, barn additions, processing plants, scales, and transporters to ensure compliance with CFO policies and regulationsPlan and execute inspection workload within prescribed timelinesEstablish and maintain transparent and collaborative relationships with processors Artisanal InspectionsCoaching and inspections of Artisanal farms as required in the areas assigned Issue Management/Complaint ResponseConduct inspections, investigations, and trigger audits as required in response to issuesFlexibility to respond to issues after hours Digital ImprovementsBe an advocate for CFO’s digital platforms by actively supporting farmer and processor use, and proactively training and ensuring the use of servicesBe at the forefront of digital developments and rollouts, ensuring farmers, processors, and other stakeholders understand, implement, and use on an ongoing basisSystems use (SAP CRM, Microsoft Dynamics 365) and reports to monitor audit/inspection workload completion, interactions, and task creation/management Trusted Advisor to StakeholdersProvide farmers, processors, and other stakeholders with advice on CFO Policy and Regulations to improve efficiencies while maintaining a separation from audit functionsOn-board new farmers through formal coaching on CFO Policies and Regulations and CFC onfarm programsOn-board industry stakeholders through coaching and inspection, ensuring digital communications are timely, accurate and compliant with CFO regulations Emergency/Disease ResponseActively participate in response to and recovery from emergency situations as a case officer, liaison between farmers and the response service contractorImplement Incident Management System protocols during emergency responseAct as on-call ‘Officer of the Week’ for poultry disease emergency hotline on rotation with other FORsFORs take on additional duties to support development and recognize capability. Projects include system troubleshooting, audit template management, Occupational Health and Safety representative, farm mapping, emergency management coordinator back-up, and others QUALIFICATIONSEducationMinimum 2 years post-secondary education in agriculture with 2 years’ experience in the agricultural industry; orMinimum 2 years post-secondary education, not in agriculture, with 3 years’ experience in the agricultural industry ExperienceExperienced in the poultry/livestock/agricultural industryExperienced with quality/audit systemsExperienced with inspections Skills and AbilitiesDecisive under pressureOperate with integrity in all situationsSelf-motivated to achieve high-quality standards and targets/metrics with minimal supervisionAdhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) during work planning and completionBuild relationships with farmers and industry stakeholdersProblem-solving skills to determine root cause and potential resolutionConflict management and resolution skills with an ability to recognize potential conflict and work for resolution and de-escalation of the situationAbility to operate within a team and also work independently on workload planning and managementValid G-class driver’s license with a clean driving record CompetenciesResults-oriented and highly organizedSoftware competency with Microsoft 365 Suite, Adobe Acrobat and a desire to learnDiplomacy and Interpersonal skillsEthics and Values Interested in joining our Team?
