Job Purpose As a result of our continuing growth, Alpha Technologies Ltd. has an opportunity for an experienced POWER ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGIST to join our Engineering : Power Conversion Team at our Burnaby head office. Reporting to the Power Conversion Engineering Manager, the POWER ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGIST will assist engineering to build and test switch:mode power supplies to meet reliability, regulatory, and performance requirements within budgeted cost and schedule. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :Develops and executes design verification testing, design evaluation, design margins and analysis of product performance to meet specifications at various electrical and environmental conditions. :Develops test procedures and test jigs. :Performs verification tests and recommends solutions to ensure that the designed product conforms to international regulatory and product safety standards. :Tests and troubleshoots towards electromagnetic interference, compatibility and immunity requirements. :Assists with component parts selection and evaluations. :Performs design revisions and updates on new and existing products and assists in transferring design to manufacturing, ensuring reliable and cost:effective production. Qualifications :Diploma or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent knowledge, training and experience. :Progressive experience in the area of switch:mode power supplies, DC/AC converters, DC/AC inverters, and UPSs is desired but not required. :Excellent written and verbal English communication skills. :Experience with power supply testing requirements per international regulatory and product safety standards (EN60950, UL1778, FCC, etc.) is desired. :Experience with thermal testing is an asset. :Good understanding of application software such as SolidWorks, Altium, PADS, or similar design software and Microsoft Office. :Familiar with software and embedded firmware in electronics products. :Ge
