This position will report to our EnerSys Energy Systems business, which servesthe telecom, cable broadband, industrial, renewable, and data center markets. Our portfolio combines our stored energy expertise with power systems, enclosures, and renewable energy products to deliver world:class solutions for diverse applications such as 5G, broadband, Internet of Things (IoT), data center, and solar power. Our cutting:edge technology includes Lithium batteries, Fault Managed Power Systems, and Extended Run Time battery backup systems that improve the reliability and resiliency of broadband networks.

Compensation Range:
52,100:70,000

Job Purpose
As a result of our continuing growth, Alpha Technologies Ltd. has an opportunity for an experienced
POWER ELECTRONICS TECHNOLOGIST
to join our
Engineering : Power Conversion Team
at our Burnaby head office.
Reporting to the Power Conversion Engineering Manager, the POWER ELECTRONICS
TECHNOLOGIST
will assist engineering to build and test switch:mode power supplies to meet reliability, regulatory, and performance requirements within budgeted cost and schedule.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:Develops and executes design verification testing, design evaluation, design margins and analysis of product performance to meet specifications at various electrical and environmental conditions.
:Develops test procedures and test jigs.
:Performs verification tests and recommends solutions to ensure that the designed product conforms to international regulatory and product safety standards.
:Tests and troubleshoots towards electromagnetic interference, compatibility and immunity requirements.
:Assists with component parts selection and evaluations.
:Performs design revisions and updates on new and existing products and assists in transferring design to manufacturing, ensuring reliable and cost:effective production.
Qualifications
:Diploma or Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent knowledge, training and experience.
:Progressive experience in the area of switch:mode power supplies, DC/AC converters, DC/AC inverters, and UPSs is desired but not required.
:Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
:Experience with power supply testing requirements per international regulatory and product safety standards (EN60950, UL1778, FCC, etc.) is desired.
:Experience with thermal testing is an asset.
:Good understanding of application software such as SolidWorks, Altium, PADS, or similar design software and Microsoft Office.
:Familiar with software and embedded firmware in electronics products.
