The Opportunity Reporting to the Manager of Community Mental Health, the Masters prepared Social Worker will work as part of an interdisciplinary team within Community Mental Health in a community based clinic, with a focus on newcomer mental health. The Social Worker works collaboratively with team members from Occupational Therapy, Nursing, Recreation Therapy and Psychiatry team, to see, assess and provide evidenced based treatment and intervention. The Social Worker will work with children, youth and families, deliver care to children and youth up to 19 years of age in an ambulatory setting. This is done in accordance with the mission, philosophies and vision of the IWK Health Centre. Interventions and follow:up may be provided utilizing a direct, consultative or supervisory approach. Responsibilities include clinical work with children, youth and their families, with an emphasis on individual and family therapy as well as delivery of evidence based group interventions. Teaching and clinical supervision of students and in:home support workers is an expectation in the MSW role in CMH. Hours of Work Monday to Friday; 8:30am : 4:30pm.
