Job Purpose The Lead Lineman is responsible to lead a small crew in the placement of aerial fiber cable and all facets of outside plant construction. The Lead Lineman will perform and provide guidance/training to junior linemen in placing aerial strand and cable by climbing poles, using ladders, and operating bucket or line trucks. The lineman may also place buried cable or run drops as required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Perform all duties pertaining to telecommunication line placement and construction - Safely operate and maintain aerial bucket/line trucks, reel trailers, lashers and associated eqpt - Install hardware, strand, anchors, down guys, overhead guys, etc. - Install fiber and coax cables from pole to pole, manholes, into buildings, etc. - Follow all safety requirements and actively promote safe practices within the crew - Perform construction duties while on a ladder - Climb poles at different heights in order to perform construction duties - Respond to corrective network problems, performing effective and efficient problem analysis, rapid troubleshooting diagnosis and prompt repair of cable/hardware/equipment to ensure service restoral objectives are met - Accurately prepare and complete concise reports relating to repair data: network location(s), materials used, time, etc. - Provide guidance and training to junior linemen regarding safety precautions and procedures as well as technical scope - Assign tasks to junior linemen and coordinate line crew activities OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Read maps and procedures to complete daily work - Plan and implement preventative maintenance routines to ensure network standards of performance are met - Ensure required information is reported to the correct parties in a timely, accurate and professional manner - Maintain and track tool and material inv
