ACCOUNTING MANAGER ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Accounting Manager is responsible for leading the finance and administration team for Rowland Seeds, as well as overseeing HR functions for the company. This role is primarily responsible for supervising accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll, as well as managing period end reporting, reconciling account statements and sub-ledgers, foreign exchange and preparing correcting journal entries where required.  You will oversee the work of the A/P Coordinator, A/R and Marketing Support Coordinator, and the Payroll Coordinator.Other responsibilities include overseeing employee and contractor information including time and attendance tracking, payroll reports, and assuring compliance with all applicable federal and provincial regulations, and company policies. The Accounting Manager will also be responsible for supporting the Business Manager/Controller by providing management of our employees through the effective creation and implementation of policies and training programs, assisting the functions of recruitment, selection, retention, legal compliance, employee benefits and compensation, and employee relations.  Integrity, excellent interpersonal and leadership skills, and strong attention to detail are crucial for this role.You will work closely with the Rowland Farms office team, as well as the Farm Manager, Location Managers and other Rowland Farms staff. This position is located at the Taber, Alberta Head Office, and reports to the Business Manager/Controller. Specific job duties will include:Supervising and developing the Rowland Seeds finance and administration team.Oversee business integration of Legend Rodeo Stock Inc. with Rowland Seeds and other related entities.Oversees office environment to maximize office teamwork, efficiency, security, cleanliness and maintenance.   Liaise with third party suppliers and/or service providers as necessary and assist with negotiations of service level agreements. Advise on needs to ensure office facilities are compliant with safety regulations, local fire codes, and other laws. Prepare end of month reconciliations, general ledger entries and reports, including overseeing and recording intercompany transactions for review by Business Manager/Controller. Balance sheet, P&L account review, reconciliation and preparation of associated monthly reports including payroll and GST. Perform other related duties as required.QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTSUniversity degree or diploma in Business, Commerce or Accounting would be an asset, and other equivalents may be considered.Five to seven years progressively responsible experience in an office environment, including responsibility for full cycle accounting processes, is a minimum requirement for this role.Must currently be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident of Canada to be considered.
