Goldlist Chair in Geriatric Medicine. This Chair will focus on research in ageing and health.The successful applicant will be resourced to hold an academic position description of Clinician Scientist and must be eligible for a full:time clinical academic appointment at the University of Toronto. Application from full Professors are preferred but individuals at the rank of Associate Professor who have expertise in leading an innovative, independent, competitive, and externally funded research program of an international caliber will be considered.The expected start date is July 1, 2025 or a mutually agreed upon date. Sinai Health is a leader in geriatric medicine, with one of the largest academic sections in Canada. It is a fully affiliated teaching hospital with the University of Toronto and is associated with the Lunenfeld:Tanenbaum Research Institute, an institute of international recognition in which research in ageing forms a major component. The successful applicant must hold an MD degree and be eligible for medical licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. The successful candidate will preferably be a geriatrician with an active staff appointment in good standing in the Section of Geriatric Medicine at Sinai Health, or a clinician engaged in the practice and study of care of the elderly in a related discipline and have an active staff appointment in good standing at Sinai Health. The desirable qualities of the successful physician candidate holding an MD (or equivalent) degree would ideally include appropriate graduate training at the MSc or PhD level, with a focused research track record in ageing. The successful candidate must provide evidence of research excellence as demonstrated by an active and successful research portfolio, long:standing success in grant funding, peer:reviewed publications in leading journals, distinguished awards and accolades, other noteworthy activities that contribute to the visibility and prominence of the discipline. A track record of successful national/ international collaborations, effective leadership, and excellent track record in graduate student training are essential. The successful candidate should be eligible for an appointment at the University of Toronto School of Graduate Studies (SGS) and obtain a relevant cross:appointment to fund and access graduate students and/or post:doctoral trainees, in addition to supporting research conducted by clinical trainees. The successful candidates remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Applicants will be evaluated by search committee according to University of Toronto Named Chair guidelines. Consideration will be given to the applicant's record of scholarly activity (including grants, peer:reviewed publications, record of program development, collaborations with organizations nationally and internationally, supervision of graduate students and fellows). The Chair will provide approximately 125,000/year for 5 years which will the support academic activities of the chairholder, which may include salary support, research operations (direct and indirect), and relevant educational events. The initial term of the Chair position will be 5 years with the opportunity for an additional 5:year renewal following a successful review. Applications
