Richardson has approximately 3,000 employees across Canada, the U.S. and the U.K. At Richardson, we are committed to enhancing our facilities and services and investing in our people and our communities. Working with Richardson opens the door to a world of possibility. We are currently have an opportunity for a Product Development Scientist (15-month term) within our Product Development team located in Winnipeg at our Richardson Innovation Centre. Responsibilities:Participate in the planning and execution of various research projects and studies.Participate in all aspects of projects, including experimentation, pilot scale trails, and trials in manufacturing environments.Compile data, documents and technical literature to support and investigate new and proposed research; with close supervision of the PD Manager, analyze and interpret data.Support PD Manager in the communication with customers’ product development departments related to new product development.Produce timely reports and plans to support milestones for project studies/completion.Collect all data pertaining to SR&ED Tax Credits and compile in a meaningful manner for submission of tax credits.Liaise with purchasing and cost accounting for procurement of accurate information on ingredients and packaging.Collect samples and analyze results for process improvement and effectively coordinating information to management.Identify opportunities for process and procedure improvements and collaborate on their implementation. Qualifications:Degree in food science, chemistry, biochemistry, biomaterials engineering, chemical engineering, similar science degree, or equivalent combination of experience and education.Minimum of 2 - 4 years’ experience in the food industry in a role related to research and development is recommended.Familiarity with implementing lab polices, SOP’s, analyzing and interpreting data, and managing regulatory and safety issues.Must be able to communicate business matters with customers, support staff, clients and technical personnel.Ability to negotiate effectively with a range of individuals from varying backgrounds.Must be capable of assimilating and applying experimentation, research, data and reports to processes and procedures in a timely fashion and make sound decision matrices.Sound demonstrable knowledge and understanding of lab safety/equipment, food processes, food science including food safety.Should possess the ability to interpret regulatory matters and general company policies and procedures.Strong computer skills would be an asset.Experience with ISO management systems, internal auditing, an asset but not required, but additional certificates or completion of courses in fats/oil would be preferred.Demonstrate critical thinking by analyzing data and drawing conclusions from the results. Richardson International provides an excellent compensation package consisting of competitive salary, pension, a flexible benefits plan and training and career development opportunities. Interested candidates should click the Apply to this Position icon to apply online by February 16, 2024. Richardson International values diversity in the workplace.
