ROLE : Mechanical Design Engineer LOCATION : Cardiff TERM: Permanent SALARY: GBP 35,000 : GBP 45,000 per annum, dependent on experience My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for a variety of sectors, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Cardiff area. The Mechanical Design Engineerwill ideally have the following attributes: : Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar : Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment : Experience with Sheet Metal/Metalwork is necessary for this role : Experience with Plastics/Injection Moulding would also be beneficial : Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as CATIA V5, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc. : Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances : Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi:disciplinary team : Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations : Any previous experience of working with process machinery or steel / metal materials would be desirable : Excellent communication skills both verbal and written : Proficient using MS Office : Excellent organisational skills and time management skills The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve: : Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers : Producing 3D designs using CATIA V5 and 2D designs with AutoCAD : Liaising with manufacturing providers : Being involved in final assembly of products : Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans : Updating 3D models and drawings : Inputting parts into the MRP system creating BOMs : Checking drawings for sign off : Working in a small multi:disciplinary team on varied projects If you are interested in this position, please apply with an up to date CV as soon as possible.
