We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer on a freelance basis to support a range of highways infrastructure projects, with a strong emphasis on bridge design, assessment, and refurbishment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a leading contractor delivering high:profile infrastructure projects across the UK. Key Responsibilities: * Lead structural analysis and design of highways structures, particularly bridges. * Conduct detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using LUSAS software. * Produce technical reports, drawings, and specifications in accordance with DMRB, Eurocodes, and relevant British Standards. * Perform structural assessments of existing bridges and develop innovative strengthening and refurbishment solutions. * Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including geotechnical, highway, and environmental specialists. * Support junior engineers through technical mentoring and quality assurance. Requirements: * Chartered Engineer (CEng) status (or nearing chartership) with IStructE or ICE preferred. * Extensive experience in the design and assessment of bridges and highways structures. * Proficient in LUSAS and skilled in finite element modelling and interpretation of results. * Strong understanding of UK highways standards and practices (e.g., DMRB, CS 454, CS 459). * Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. * Excellent technical writing and communication skills. Desirable: * Familiarity with other software packages (e.g., MIDAS Civil, SAP2000). * Temporary works design experience. Randstad CPE values diversity and promotes equality.
