Job Description
SSEN Authorised Person:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced CAT3A Authorised Person to join our team on a substation project in Gremista, Shetland. This critical role requires a comprehensive understanding of SSENs safety procedures and a strong commitment to safe working practices within a high:voltage environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all electrical work is carried out safely and in accordance with SSENs regulations and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
* Permit:to:Work System: Manage and oversee the Permit:to:Work system for all CAT3A work, ensuring all permits are correctly issued, verified, and closed.
* Risk Assessments: Carry out thorough risk assessments for all planned CAT3A work, identifying potential hazards and implementing control measures.
* Safe Isolation and Verification: Ensure the safe isolation of electrical equipment before any work commences, verifying isolation using appropriate test equipment.
* Supervision of Work: Supervise and mentor personnel carrying out CAT3A work, ensuring adherence to SSENs safety procedures and best practices.
* Safety Training: Provide and oversee safety training for personnel working within the CAT3A system, ensuring a strong safety culture.
* Incident Reporting: Investigate and report any electrical incidents or near misses, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
* Compliance and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all CAT3A work, ensuring compliance with SSEN regulations and safety procedures.
* Equipment Inspection: Regularly inspect and test electrical equipment used in CAT3A work, ensuring it is in safe operating condition.
* Liaison with other teams: Work collaboratively with other teams on site, ensuring effective communication and coordination of activities.
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
* Valid SSEN CAT3A Authorisation (essential).
* Significant experience working as a CAT3A Authorised Person within the electricity distribution or transmission industry.
* Thorough understanding of SSENs safety rules and regulations, as well as relevant health and safety legislation.
* Proven ability to supervise and mentor personnel, enforcing safe working practices.
* Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem:solving skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Experience working on substation projects is highly desirable.
* Working at Heights certification, First Aid certification and other relevant industry safety qualifications are advantageous.
* Willingness to work in a remote location (Shetland).
