The HR Director, Supply Chain Distribution Operations Eastern Canada plays a pivotal role in shaping the people strategy for one of Canada's most complex and innovative logistics networks. Reporting directly to the Sr. Director, HR, this high-impact position leads a team of 15 HR professionals (including 5 Senior HRBPs/HRBP direct reports) and partners closely with the VP of Distribution Operations for Eastern Canada. With oversight spanning 12 distribution centres from Ontario to Newfoundland, this role is integral to driving workforce strategies that support over 3000 colleagues. This position will influence organizational culture, inclusion initiatives, engagement strategies, talent development programs, and overall operational effectiveness. Please note Loblaw's Return to Office Policy, is 4 days in the office What You'll Do: As an experienced HR leader with a passion for driving results and fostering an inclusive culture, you will: Lead People Strategy at Scale: Develop and implement comprehensive people strategies aligned with business objectives that impact thousands of employees across a geographically dispersed network and more broadly across the Supply Chain enterprise. Inspire High-Performing Teams: Build a culture of excellence by recruiting top talent, providing mentorship, fostering collaboration, promoting accountability, and executing robust succession plans. Act as a Strategic Advisor: Partner with senior leaders, including the VP of Distribution Operations, to provide expert counsel on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent optimization. Champion Culture & Inclusion: Inform diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives to ensure a workplace where every employee feels valued and empowered to contribute their best. Drive Employee Engagement: Lead resources to analyze engagement data to identify trends; develop targeted action plans to address challenges while amplifying strengths; create opportunities for ongoing dialogue across all levels. Optimize Organizational Design: Assess current structures against future business needs; recommend adjustments that improve agility while maintaining operational excellence at scale. Oversee Talent Management Programs: Shape end-to-end talent lifecycle processes, from onboarding through leadership development, ensuring alignment with both short-term goals and long-term growth strategies. Influence Data-Informed Decisions: Leverage analytics tools and key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure workforce effectiveness; use insights to influence decision-making across leadership teams. Navigate Labour Relations Complexity: Partner with the Sr. Director of Labour Relations to provide thought leadership in managing unionized environments; maintaining positive labour-management relations. Spearhead Change Management Initiatives: Lead large-scale transformations that align people strategy with evolving business priorities; minimize disruption through clear communication and structured processes. Ensure Regulatory Compliance: Stay ahead of employment legislation changes across multiple provinces; ensure policies consistently meet or exceed legal requirements. Collaborate cross-functionally with two other Directors of HR, and HR leaders nationwide, to share best practices and align regional efforts with national priorities. What You'll Need: To excel in this influential role within Loblaw s Supply Chain organization: A post-secondary degree or equivalent experience; CHRP designation or a postgraduate degree in HR or Organizational Behavior is strongly preferred. A minimum of 7+ years progressive leadership experience in Human Resources with demonstrated success as a strategic partner at senior levels. Proven expertise developing employee relations strategies within unionized environments Experience in supply chain/logistics operations or comparable industries such as retail or manufacturing is highly desirable. Exceptional ability to manage ambiguity and lead through complexity while making timely decisions under pressure. Strong analytical acumen combined with excellent problem-solving skills; ability to derive insights from data to inform strategic decisions. Outstanding interpersonal skills paired with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities - capable of influencing stakeholders at all levels. A proactive mindset focused on delivering innovative solutions that address evolving business needs while staying grounded in operational realities.
