Overview: Camp Wabun's Managing Director will report to the Board of Directors of Camp Wabun Canada Charitable Foundation and will assume overall responsibility for Camp Wabun operations which includes a summer camp for boys and girls with a capacity of approximately 90 campers and a staff of approximately 40. The Managing Director also serves as part of Camp Wabun Leadership Team and assists with external relations. On-season, the position requires full time residence on Garden Island in Ontario, Canada from early June through early August Duties: · Keeping current campers and parents engaged · Providing timely, concise, and informative instructions to parents of current campers · Managing all Camp-Related Personnel Functions o Ensuring the highest of health and safety standards for campers and staff; o Organizing and implement evening activities and supporting base and canoe trip staff; o Maintaining a positive team atmosphere that includes campers, families, all camp-based staff, administrative staff, and alumni; and o Scheduling, supervising, and evaluating program staff, providing support and disciplinary measures when necessary. · Overseeing the Camp Programs o Providing on-site coordination/implementation of daily camp schedule for campers, staff, and assistant camp coordinators; o Running the summer schedules - including for the opening and closing of camp facilities, arrival and departure of campers, mid and end-season activities, trip itineraries, transportation for trip program and airport runs, and on-campus camp activities; o Running camper group debrief sessions; o Reviewing and implementing safety, risk/management and emergency procedures for campers and staff; o Facilitating daily camper activities and meals; o Liaising with parents and the board of directors; o Assessing the camp program to see if there are any changes that need to be made for optimum functioning, while maintaining the traditions and practices that are unique to the camp; and o Ensuring that food-related operations are appropriately staffed and resourced with necessary provisions. · Budget and Financial Management o Monitoring revenue and expenditures to ensure all operations are within budget; o Reviewing and approving all invoices before submitting to the board of directors; and o Reviewing insurance policy annually to ensure that Temagami-related operations have appropriate coverage. · External Relations with Campers, Parents, Alumni and Other Supporters o Negotiating with suppliers for the provision of camp materials and supplies o Overseeing content of and provide photos for Wabun website; o Working with external supporters/clients for the use of facilities for conventions, banquets, receptions, and other function; and o Engaging with campers, parents, and other Camp Wabun supporters through social media. · Other Responsibilities o Designing and implementing archiving procedures for newsletters, recognition plaques, photos and video footage of season, and interviews with alumni
