Sessional Lecturer: BIO333H5 F: Freshwater Ecology
Course description: A functional analysis of freshwater ecosystems, with emphasis on lakes. Lectures cover water chemistry; the physical structure of lakes; the different ways that algae, zooplankton, benthic invertebrates, and fish have evolved to succeed in these habitats and interact with one another; and the impact of humans on freshwater systems. Students must be available to participate in a 1:day field trip to visit aquatic habitats further from campus on a weekend in either late September or early October. Students not available for a 1:day weekend trip should not register for this course. Ancillary fees for the course apply. Please check the Departmental website for full details.

Sessional Lecturer I : 9,820.70
Sessional Lecturer I Long Term : 10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II : 10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II Long Term : 10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III : 10,760.28
Sessional Lecturer III Long Term : 11,030.36
All pay rates are inclusive of vacation pay. Should rates stipulated in the Collective Agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the Collective Agreement shall prevail.
Qualifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Biology or related field. The decision on hiring will be based on previous teaching experience in this course or other similar courses, academic qualifications, ability, and suitability for the position.
Description of duties: Normal duties associated with teaching a university course, including preparation and delivery of course content, development, administration and marking of assignments, tests and exams, calculation and submission of grades, contact with students by regular office hours. Completion of all grades (may include make:up exams). This course will have synchronous online lectures and tutorials, and the position will include supervision of the day:to:day work of any Sessional Instructional Assistants or Teaching Assistants assigned to the course.
