The following Sessional Lecturer positions are available in the Department of Arts, Culture and Media for the Fall 2025 academic session. In accordance with the Collective Agreement, this posting is being sent as an email notification to all applicants in the Department's Applicant Pool: all Sessional Lecturers who are teaching for the Department during the current academic year or who have taught for the Department since September 1, 2005, and all persons who have submitted an application within the past twenty:four months. Preference in hiring is given to qualified individuals advanced to the rank of Sessional Lecturer II or Sessional Lecturer III in accordance with 14:12.

Salary:
in accordance with the current CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement, the stipend rate for a half course (Y, F or S), inclusive of vacation pay, will be:
Sessional Lecturer I: 9,820.50
Sessional Lecturer I : Long Term (Six or more years as SL I): 10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer II: 10,510.04
Sessional Lecturer III: 10,760.28
Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.
Sessional Dates (excluding Exam period):
F courses: Sep. 2 : Dec. 2, 2025
Note
: all positions involve completion of any course grading not finished by December 31, 2025 for F courses.

MUZB01H3 Introduction to Community Music
Music within communities functions in ways that differ widely from formal models. Often the defining activity, it blurs boundaries between amateur, professional, audience and performer, and stresses shared involvement. Drawing upon their own experience, students will examine a variety of community practices and current research on this rapidly evolving area.

All normal duties related to the design and teaching of a university credit course, including preparation and delivery of course content; development, administration and marking of assignments and final portfolios; calculation and submission of grades; holding regular office hours.
A graduate degree (ABD accepted) in community music or a related field required. Experience working as a community music practitioner or arts educator required. Experience facilitating music making in social change contexts is highly desirable.
This job is posted in accordance with the CUPE 3902 Unit 3 Collective Agreement.

Courses must meet a minimum enrolment of more than 50 in order to qualify for TA hours
